"Business Tax Update" presented by Bryce Baker, CPA, Geffen Mesher

This presentation will cover a general business tax update for 2019, including a discussion on the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, the Wayfair court decision as it applies to state nexus thresholds, and the new Oregon CAT tax. The objective of this presentation is to help the members in this group be able to provide value to their business and the stakeholders through knowledge in these tax-related areas. The three takeaways that we want the members in this group to think about and consider are the following:

1) Think critically

2) Plan ahead

3) Ask questions

Bryce Baker joined Geffen Mesher in 2011 after earning his Masters in Accounting from the University of Oregon. He worked on audit and tax projects his first two years at Geffen Mesher, which gave him a balanced perspective on the two disciplines before ultimately choosing to solely focus on tax. Bryce has built his expertise working on clients in the construction, manufacturing, and dealer service industries. His experience includes consulting related to long-term contract accounting, accounting method changes, M&A transaction work, and selection of business entity type. Bryce has also presented to various groups on the impacts and changes of the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act. He enjoys working directly with the clients’ management teams, building their trust and confidence in his ability to evaluate options and finding solutions to their pressing issues.
