"Bridging the Gap: How to apply the principles of tax law to unlock value in your intangible assets" presented by David J. Brandon, Attorney, Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP

This program will cover methods to correctly identify intellectual property and intangible assets, identify traps for the unwary, and adapt internal policies to maximize the value of your company's intellectual property portfolio.

David is an attorney with Miller Nash Graham & Dunn LLP. His practice focuses on tax and business law, with an emphasis on the tax consequences of significant events and transactions undertaken by for-profit and non-profit organizations. David regularly advises on entity choice, formation, and governance matters, obtaining federal tax-exempt status for non-profit corporations, sales and acquisitions of businesses, state and local taxation, and domestic and cross-border commercial transactions. Before joining Miller Nash Graham & Dunn, David served two overseas deployments as an avionics technician in the United States Navy. Afterward, he earned an advanced degree in tax law and worked as a tax consultant with Deloitte Tax LLP in Seattle, where his practice focused on partnership tax and state and local tax.

Michael will provide a lively overview of the new business tax laws for 2018. Learn how to take advantage of new opportunities before year-end and understand new rules limiting deductions.

Michael Lortz is not your typical tax professional. He's proactive, embraces change, and is excited about it every step of the way! The youngest shareholder in Geffen Mesher's history, he routinely advises clients on how to reduce their taxes, take advantage of new opportunities, and solve problems whether they relate to business or personal finance. Michael is a frequent speaker on a variety of tax-related topics including changes in the tax law, real estate transaction planning, and business transition planning. He lives in Oregon City with his wife and 5 children.
